How to Install a Free SSL Certificate (Let's Encrypt)
Website security is more important than ever. Having an SSL certificate encrypts the data transmitted between your website and your visitors, protecting sensitive information. It also adds the padlock icon next to your URL and changes HTTP to HTTPS, which boosts customer trust and improves your Google search rankings.
At YallHost, we provide Free SSL Certificates with all our hosting plans. Here is how to install and activate your free SSL.
Method 1: Automatic AutoSSL Installation
The good news is that in most cases, you don't need to do anything! Our servers use AutoSSL, which automatically provisions and installs a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate for any new domain or subdomain added to your account.
Simply point your domain to our nameservers, and within a few hours, the SSL certificate will be automatically installed.
Method 2: Manual Installation via cPanel
If the automatic installation hasn't run yet, or if you want to force the installation, you can do it manually through cPanel:
Step 1: Log in to cPanel
Log in to your cPanel account through the YallHost Client Area.
Step 2: Navigate to SSL/TLS Status
Scroll down to the Security section and click on the SSL/TLS Status icon.
Step 3: Run AutoSSL
On this page, you will see a list of all your domains and their current SSL status. To force the installation, click the blue Run AutoSSL button.
The system will now process your request. This may take a few minutes. Once complete, the page will refresh, and you should see green padlock icons next to your domains.
Forcing HTTPS Redirection
After installing the SSL certificate, you should force all visitors to use the secure HTTPS version of your site. You can do this easily in cPanel:
- Go back to the main cPanel dashboard.
- Click on Domains under the Domains section.
- Find your domain in the list and toggle the switch under the Force HTTPS Redirect column to "On".
