Understanding Backup Retention and Storage Limits
When managing backups, it is important to understand how backup retention works and what storage limits apply to your account. This article explains the backup policies at YallHost and how to manage your backup storage effectively.
What is Backup Retention?
Backup retention refers to how long backups are kept before they are automatically deleted. Different hosting providers have different retention policies. At YallHost, we maintain daily backups for the past 30 days, allowing you to restore your website to any point within the last month.
Backup Storage Limits
Backups are typically stored separately from your hosting account storage. However, if you download backups to your hosting account, they will count towards your disk space quota. It is recommended to download backups to your local computer or cloud storage instead.
Managing Your Backups
To manage your backups effectively:
- Download full backups to your computer monthly
- Delete old backup files from your hosting account
- Store backups in cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox
- Keep at least 3 recent backups available
Upgrading Your Storage
If you need more backup storage, you can upgrade your hosting plan to one with higher disk space allocation. Visit our hosting plans page to see available options.
